First off, Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] lizbee! Here in the past, it's still the twelfth for another eighteen minutes, anyway. ;) Hope your day was excellent!

Have been working today on my the first of my crazy Random Pairing Generator fics. And, as is so often the case, the sheer cracktasticness of the prompt means that the fic itself is dark and terribly serious and full of woe. Also, apocalypse. But it is Barbara/Liz! Surely we can forgive some worlds ending for that pairing.

Hey, new layout! It's probably quite temporary, since I'm already fed up with some of the broken bits of it (most notably its stretchiness and strange narrowness and such). I do like the header, though. Balloons! Clock faces! Little dashed lines and things!

Have rekindled my odd obsession with the board game Monopoly, because. Well. It is strangely amusing to have various characters from fandom playing this game. (Fraser keeps losing because he is too nice, I have decided. And Silver cheats. Also, Donna seems to get Park Place and Boardwalk through dice rolls alone every time.) This new habit is not at all strange, no.

In other news, I'm planning on starting up my coin collection again. Yay, coins! Shininess + history = major draw for me. I will need to rescue them from my parents' house, though, and maybe see if I can persuade my brother to part with his collection for a shiny quarter. Anyone else here indulge in numismatics?

And speaking of history, my Mom came across a brilliant old photo album that my Granddad kept during WWII. There are pictures of planes and things, since he was a pilot, but also some amazing aerial views of cities in India and palaces and such. It's really interesting - he never much talked about that part of his life, so I guess it's that old cliché where you feel you know someone better after they died, etc. But not in the Due South way, with the talkative ghosts following you around and building offices in your closet. Er. Yes. Point being that my Dad's going to digitize this collection of photos. They're really amazing.

Tomorrow? Groceries, further fandoming, exercising the knee, and lots and lots of cleaning. Possibly ice cream, too. And after cleaning comes picspam of the apartment, long overdue!

Five straight days of shifts, starting Saturday. Once more unto the etc.

First off - very important question:

[Poll #1136252]

I like it. Unless somebody makes me a super-awesome custom DW layout (any takers? *nudgenudge*), I'll probably stick with it. :D

Argumentum Ad Metam clocked in at just under 20,000 words (19,767) - since I can manage to write a self-contained fic of that length in one week, on top of school and work and volunteering... well, and midterms, I think I'll be all right for [livejournal.com profile] tardis_bigbang. Right? Right.

(I may go back and rewrite this one at some point - so much got cut because I was just trying to finish on time. Originally there was supposed to be another large-scale incident like the warehouse fire, and DCI Snell was going to actually get a much bigger part, but, well. What can you do?)

Went downstairs this morning to discover that my part of the fridge is mysteriously full of tupperware containers of shrimp and spinach risotto! I think my roommate got bored again - she cooks. Mmm. Unexpected food is the very best kind!

And join us over at [livejournal.com profile] legsofscience, you guys - we're rewatching "Spearhead From Space" this month, which is made of awesome! (Come on. Autons? The Doctor being overly protective of his shoes? An excellent Brig/Liz-as-Mulder/Scully scene? You know you want to join us! No previous Three-watching experience necessary, either.)

IN THE FACE.

I'm completely lost unless I'm working from scratch, so here am I all lazy and going for a lovely premade layout - and that big stupid grey box pops up right on top. Anyone have a clue what they're doing? More than me? I've swapped a few things around without any luck.

Here's the code, if it'll be any help. )

EDIT: [livejournal.com profile] settiai is made of win. :D

Yes, I've been watching a lot of Three lately. How could you tell?

New icon, new Friends-only banner!

I like the banner because it seems like the Brigadier is partway through telling the Doctor off, the Doctor's being cheerfully snarky in reply, and poor Liz is working on pretending she doesn't know either of them.

Watching "The Inferno" today has cheered me up immensely. Possibly more to come on that, because I found the Brigadier's lack of moustache disturbing. Heehee.

Ooh, shiny!

eponymous_rose: (Nine the standup comic!)
After about a billion false starts, I've managed to get myself a shiny new-looking layout!  Huzzah!

Also, for some reason, I've been working all weekend.  But I'm so close to cleaning up twenty years' worth of data, dangit, and nobody's ever seen this data decoded in this much detail before!  It's gonna be awesome.  And I can always spend Monday and Tuesday graphing.

Fic's coming along extremely well, too.  Now, if only I'd stop falling behind on my beta duties.  *sheepish*  I should have all that done by tonight, though, and I might even get a good section of the FIC OF DOOM done as well.  Hoping to post the first chapter this week.  Fingers crossed, knock wood.

I just sketched a teensy little phone box on my electricity bill.  Then I added a speech bubble that says "VWORP VWORP VWORP".  It looked lonely, so I drew it an anticyclone with an occluded front for company.

I don't think anything sums up my geekiness better than that.
