Early Friday Five!
Aug. 16th, 2007 10:06 pmHey,
megoobie posted early. I can, too! :D
Whew. That was rambly. Ramblier. Than usual, that is. :D
EDIT: Also - unexpectedly appropriate icon!

Srsly. As long as the lack-of-sleep thing isn't making my writing totally wonky and incoherent, I think I may just have written over four thousand words' worth of WF chapterage in one evening. And they're fairly good words. This means that chapter two should be posted tomorrow, and my luverly beta should find chapter three in her inbox tomorrow as well! :D
Phew. I'm going to bed early, but first - the Friday Five! Because it's totally Friday today.
1. What is the best part about late summer?
Hm. Getting a bit of a glimpse of fall before the snow comes? Nah. It's really the back-to-school vibe. I love it. Searching for classes, madly swapping courses to avoid professors only to have them take over your class anyway, looking for textbooks that haven't necessarily been published yet. Good times! :D
2. What is your favourite summer memory and why?
Very, very specific. Sitting in a minivan on the way to my Gran and Grandad's house in BC, passing through a tunnel and trying to keep track of how many there are while listening to the soundtrack from Cats. I have extremely fond memories of the Shuswap Lake and miss it horribly. Another finalist in the good-memory category would be not wiping out when attempting windsurfing for the first time.
3. When you were small, did you realize that summer holidays were not going to happen forever?
Nope. But considering the fact that I spent my summer holidays teaching my stuffed animals to read, write, and do math (and occasionally condescending to do the same to my little brother), I probably would've been thrilled at the idea. :D
4. Where was your favourite summer vacation? Why?
Driving trip across the States with my family. Because I love Washington D.C. way more than is healthy. :D
5. If you could have one last real summer vacation and cost was not an issue, where would you go and why?
Everywhere. Just 'cause.
Okay, going off to bed. Sleep is good. :D

Zee Friday Five!
Aug. 3rd, 2007 10:26 am(but quickly, because I still need to pack and go to work and things)
1. If you were a fruit, which would you be and why?
Um. I really don't know how to answer this. I feel like there's a clever answer staring me right in the face, though... Okay. I am a starfruit. Huzzah! :D
2. If you wake up and smell smoke, and you have to get everybody (pets included) out of the house safely, but you have time to grab one item, what would you grab?
Probably my laptop. Heehee.
3. If you were stuck on an island, who would be the one person you would want with you and why?
Oh, a person with me? Dangit. That spoils the whole desert island thing. Probably someone I'd never met before, because then at least we wouldn't exhaust the conversational options as quickly.
4. If you could change one thing about your physical appearance, what would it be?
Nah, don't think I would. :D
5. If you could spend the day with one famous person, dead or alive, who would you choose?
Ooh, tricky question. Probably some long-dead scientist. Or musician! Someone with a good sense of humour, like Einstein or Haydn or something. That'd be fun. Or Lewis Fry Richardson, if I were in a weathery sort of mood. (When am I not in a weathery sort of mood?)
Really, I just wanted to show off my icon.

The Friday/Thursday... um... Ten.
Jul. 26th, 2007 06:34 pmRight. I forgot that I'm doing the Friday Five thing now. Um. So here's two weeks' worth, and this week is early to make up for the other being late. *beams*
( Every day's Friday! :D )
So there you have it!

So there you have it!
The Friday Five! :D
Jul. 13th, 2007 09:31 pmRight, completely forgot that I was doing these!
So here it is:
What is your favorite quote....
First off, I'm terrible with quotes. I come across plenty of them, desperately want to keep them in mind so I can be all clever later on, but I invariably forget them in a matter of seconds. As a result, I'm gonna be searching for neat ones, not necessarily my favourites. Cheating, if you will. :D
1) ... on family?
Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city. -George Burns
2) ... on relationships? (marriage, friendships, etc)
Never explain--your friends do not need it and your enemies will not believe you anyway. -Elbert Hubbard
3) ... attitude?
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. -Herm Albright
4) ... happiness?
I am a kind of paranoiac in reverse. I suspect people of plotting to make me happy. -J.D. Salinger
5) ... success?
Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire. -Reggie Leach

I figured that since I tend to write a bunch of random meme-like things, anyway, I may as well have some interesting questions. So here's this week's
thefridayfive, because everyone likes to feel unique! :D
1. What sets you apart from your friends?
My interest in old movies and my sometimes-overbearing cheerfulness, I guess! :D Oh, and my inability to maintain eye contact. That's always awkward.
2. What sets you apart from your family?
Not a whole lot, really. I don't drink - ever - so I guess that's something. Also, my family's known for its punctuality - obviously, I missed that boat! Heehee. Oh, and my (relative) patience with technology. The first time I ever heard my Dad curse just happened to coincide with the purchase of our first computer. How mysterious.
3. What sets you apart from your coworkers/fellow students?
Coworkers? That I don't have a degree. *sadface* Fellow students? That I can sit in one place for eight hours and review the same material without taking a break. And that most days I'd much rather study than do absolutely anything else.
4. What is the one thing about you that is most unique?
I'm physically incapable of getting bored. :D It's a nice trait to have, but it means that I often feel I have to make excuses for just hanging out in my room and reading dictionaries or whatever it is I do.
5. What is your most interesting quality?
Interesting to other people? I'm not sure, you'd have to ask them. My most interesting quality to me is the seemingly random way that I'll dive into weird (and potentially not-so-good) situations. Or not. Makes things unpredictable, to say the least, though, like most impulsive things, it often backfires.
Well, that was exciting. I hadn't memed in a while! :D
Heehee - my mood icon looks like some sort of a commercial for generic orange-coloured beverage. THE DOCTOR AND ROSE ENDORSE ORANGE JUICE! This is trufax.
