(First off, I've gotta put on my hey-you-kids-get-off-my-lawn face, because there are kids. On my lawn. Drinking and smoking and carousing and whatnot. On the plus side, they're all lightweights enough that they're walking into trees, and it's only 11 PM. I anticipate lights-out by midnight. But are those... are those bagpipes I hear on the horizon? Uh-oh.)

Halfhearted grouchiness aside (they do look funny when they bump into trees, after all), a proposition! I would love to try my hand at podfic - that is, recording a fic as a podcast of AWESOME ([livejournal.com profile] flo_nelja, j'ai aimé tant "Eclats de lumière" que je suis bien tentée de la podficcer comme exemplaire de mes, euh, "talents".

The primary obstacle? I am so horribly microphone-shy. Seriously. I babble and babble and then you put a mic in front of my face and I get all wibbly and can't make a sound much louder than a whisper.

So! An exercise to stop my stammering and mumbling.

Voicepost Meme of Doom

Ask me a question - any question! - and I'll reply in a voicepost. Fannish! Nonfannish! Ask me to say your favourite nonsense sentence! Ask me why it takes forever for me to reply to memes! ([livejournal.com profile] persiflage_1, I will someday get to the one you tagged me on! *winks*) Test the limits of my awesome Canadian accent! For bonus marks, ask me to reply in French! (Seriously, do. I don't get to practise nearly enough because nobody speaks it here, and it's been three full years since I was in Immersion and I need to work on my accent liek woah. Also, it'd be amusing!)

At least with a fic, the words are already there, making the getting them out process all the easier.

Heee, oh, drunken children walking into trees. ...ooh, you should babble about that! In English so I can understand you, and perhaps with forays into French just 'cause I like the way it sounds!

You could a do a one person skit! In French, even. Science and fannish references optional.

(I don't have enough exposure to French, period.)

You only studied French for three years? It's better than mine, and I'm from Quebec!

My French has been pwned by an Edmontonian. I am ashamed.

Hee! Nope, I studied French for 13 years (all of my classes all through school), but it's been three years since I took anything in French. Alas and woe, etc.

Oh, see, I should really go to bed. Now my English is suffering as well. I've forgotten how to read!

In my own defense, even though I live in Quebec City, I work in an English bookstore, so I never get a chance to practice my written skills. I maybe write a French email once a week.

There's an English bookstore in Quebec City? oh wait, maybe I remember it now - at Place de la Cite?

Lived there for a year and a half circa 2000. One learns the anglo-friendly spots.

Whoa whoa whoa. I'm being completely random and interjecting here, but I just had to after I saw you live in Edmonton. Sadly, I'm about 300 kilometres to the south but I love seeing Who fans who are so close to me! :D There should be an Alberta meetup of Whovians at some point where we watch a bunch of episodes and generally geek out.

Hey, wow! This is my totally random late reply, but that is all kinds of awesome! :D

There should definitely be an Alberta meetup of some sort - I have run into fans here and there, but they're generally pretty casual about it, so I tend to feel a bit on the utterly insane side. Just a bit. It would be great to geek out at some point!

(I am kind of tempted to poke [livejournal.com profile] doctorwho or something, and see how many Albertan fans I can flush out of the wilderness, but I'm also kind of worried I'll just be disappointed. Ahem.)

Heh, most of the fans I know are people who I've sat down and forced them to watch episodes saying, "This is Doctor Who and you will like it." Most of them really like it, but they're not hard core fans. I've also come across a couple people in the [livejournal.com profile] calgarians community who have Doctor Who icons and they seem pretty cool. It really would be so awesome to plan a Doctor Who weekend with fans at some point. Finally, people would know what I'm talking about when I mutter "wibbly wobbly" under my breath.

I'm really in favour of having a mini Doctor Who con with people in Alberta somewhere I know there's at least 1 person who would come, and possibly up to five, though I haven't a clue where or when. Any ideas?

Or just give us your thoughts on Hex, in French. (I understood everything you wrote! I'm so pleased with myself).

OOOOH YES DO PODFIC FLO'S FIC, T'WOULD BE AWESOME. (Plus I wanna hear you speak French haha)

(And I knew you said you were good at French so I shouldn't be so surprised, but WOW your French is good.)

I want to ask you something in French, but I have absolutely no idea what. Donc euh, un truc au hasard en français?

Bien sûr, que ça me va !
J'en serais même très honorée. :-) (Et je suis contente que ça t'ait plu. :-) )

(Je n'ai pas d'idées de questions pour l'instant, je reviendrai peut-être plus tard...)
