We-ell, I finished watching "Army of Ghosts" and "Doomsday" and, it being 2 AM and all, felt decidedly poetic.  Thoroughly convinced that I'm more clever than I actually am at this time of the night morning, I scribbled up a drabble for another challenge over at [community profile] dw100.  In five minutes.  *wince*   The challenge phrase was "lost at sea".  Because we all have a little "Doomsday" angst to get out of our systems, right?  Apologies to T.S. Eliot.

Title: Lost at Sea

Rating: G
Characters: Ten, Rose
Spoilers: "Doomsday"
Word Count: 100

They stand at the blurred line between two worlds, on a beach that yawns out into Bad Wolf Bay, and from there to the sea and the ocean beyond.

The land touches the water touches the air touches the sky.

He can’t touch her, and in that denial he hears the screaming echoes of the Daleks, deprived of everything tangible, writhing in their cold metal cages.  He knows them, and hates them all the more because they are what he has become.

The hollow men.

She’s crying now, and

this is the way the world ends

not with a bang

O, this is great. Very poetic and lyrical, which you manage to do with just a hundred words, making it all the more impressive.

*shakes fist at* Dang you and your talent! *more fist shaking*

I've been re-reading your drabbles (mostly for the purpose of podfic) and I find it interesting that you used this particular poem without even having seen The Lazarus Experiment.

Also, I love this drabble.
