(First, though, just wanted to point out that [livejournal.com profile] who_daily and [livejournal.com profile] torchwood_three (and [livejournal.com profile] trek_news, for that matter) are looking for more editors! I've been doing [livejournal.com profile] who_daily for... must be going on two years, and it's been nearly a year since I created [livejournal.com profile] trek_news, so if you have any questions or are on the fence about applying, I might be able to help!)

Spoilers (and screencaps and references to the trailer) ahoy! )

Am finally getting back to getting things all organized and such around here, firstly by uploading all the old stuff to DW, and secondly by working on a version of [community profile] trek_news that'll cover all the awesome DW-only Star Trek content that's been emerging lately.

On that note, in case we don't have seven editors willing to do both LJ and DW versions of [community profile] trek_news, would there be any volunteers among this crowd? I'll go hunting for editors at communities and such pretty quick, but I figured there might be an interested party or two around here. Standard incentives apply: none, really, but I will step you through the compiling process and you will get to see all sorts of awesome Trek stuff in the meantime. ;)

The [livejournal.com profile] trek_news watchlist is at skip=360 today. The highest I've ever seen it prior to that was about skip=80. Awesome.

On that note, I'm thinking we should try our darnedest to make this a daily - anyone willing to roll up their sleeves and take on a day or two? (I promise it's less tricky than it looks! I'll even step you through it, if you're interested in helping out. Shouldn't be more than an hour's commitment a week, at the most.)

Since I'm utterly insane, I'm setting up a similar comm on Dreamwidth that will just link to Dreamwidth content, and we (being me) could definitely use a hand there. I'm fresh out of invite codes, but will cheerfully shell out the three bucks to get a paid account for anyone willing to help. :D

I'll be advertising the newsletter once more today (probably just at one or two of the bigger comms), since I figure the newer parts of fandom would like to know about it - in the meantime, please do pimp it out to your flists!

[livejournal.com profile] trek_news is ON THE AIR! I've posted the first newsletter - a weekend edition - and I'll be posting regularly on Mondays and Fridays from now on.

So, uh. Tell your friends! And please, please tell me if I've made some terrible mistake in the meantime. I'm a bit nervous.

If you'd like to be added to the watchlist, let me know!

...okay. The general consensus seems to be that what Star Trek fandom (all franchises) really, really needs as a whole is a fannish newsletter on LJ (believe it or not, there isn't one). I've been offered the resurrection of [livejournal.com profile] trek_news, and, heck, why not? It'll be a ton of work to set up, but I think it'll really be worth it, especially with the movie and all. The main problem appears to be that nobody can find anything in this fandom, and having one watchlist would be a huge deal.

Anyone interested in helping out? To be honest, I've been toying with this idea for a couple weeks now, and it'll be some time before it gets off the ground (insert your own joke about warp-drive capability here), but any advice and/or assistance would be much appreciated in the meantime. The moderation/helping-out I do ([livejournal.com profile] who_daily et al. and Teaspoon) involves an extremely active fandom, but the actual co-modding I do is a lot more on the quiet side, so this could be an interesting intermediate.

Also, there's the entirely self-serving if-I-don't-do-it-who-will mentality. I cheerfully admit to that. :D

(If you know of anyone you think might be interested in helping out, feel free to nudge them in my general direction! I'll be doing some cross-posting once I've got more to work with.)

Maybe by the New Year?
