Spoilers for "Day of the Moon"
Apr. 30th, 2011 04:36 pmI... kind of adored that. That said, I did hit a bit of a "wait, what?" when the solution was to kill off the Silence altogether (I mean, we saw them explode that woman, but otherwise I possibly missed all the terrible things they did? It seemed like they were just sort of chilling and running humanity's life and could've been told to GTFO rather than getting killed off by humanity at large - instead of ordering humanity to kill them all off, they could've contrived it so the order was more like, "Stop listening to us, we're kind of rubbish". Or something. Possibly that would've been anticlimactic.)
THAT SAID. There was a lot of fun stuff about these two episodes, and I really enjoyed the Amy/Rory/Eleven/River/Canton TARDIS team. Typing it all up like that, it seems like it should've been a crowded TARDIS, but it really didn't feel that way, and everyone had their moments. The Amy/Rory misunderstanding thing was pretty obvious, but still cute, and I liked that she caught him listening in at the end. And River was extremely epic, as always. And Canton! Awesome that we have a gay companion who Does Stuff and Doesn't Die, a bit less awesome that it was framed as a bit of a big reveal, but still.
The thing with the tick marks on everyone's faces and arms was super-creepy (especially when it happened to Amy and we were seeing everything from her point of view), and the little glowy hand-light things were great as well. And the ending? Whaaaat, so cool. I am excited for the rest of the series, what can I say?
Actually, I had far more coherent thoughts at some point, but they were all erased from my mind when I watched the next-time preview and saw pirate!Amy. Next week cannot arrive fast enough.
Edit: Having said that, there's an excellent (spoilery) post by
