Remix/redux blathering!
Jul. 26th, 2009 10:04 pmMine was Missing Hawk (The Anger Turned Sideways Remix), and I'm not at all surprised that nobody guessed it, because I don't think I'd even mentioned M*A*S*H on this journal until that one fic a couple days ago. So, um. There it is. As it turned out, I was watching a couple episodes for the first time since I was a kid, and that very same day, poof, the remix assignments went out, and I couldn't get this particular notion out of my head.
tigerkat24 is all kinds of awesome for betaing on short notice and hand-holding when I was getting the new-fandom jitters.
I'm a big fan of
loneraven's fic, by the way, and it was bugging me that I couldn't preserve anonymity and squee at (re)discovering these fics - many of you have probably read her awesometastic nu!Trek A Formal Dance in the Bowling Alley, or that totally excellent XKCD fic from last Yuletide, or changes in sea level, which is one of my very favourite TOS fics ever. I was thoroughly intimidated at the prospect of remixing one of her fics, which is probably why I went and wrote something that only dovetailed very vaguely with the original - hers is BJ after the war, and mine's Hawkeye.
Anyway, here's a thing about that fic I wrote, because the whole top-secret anonymityness makes me feel like I should have some big secret to reveal: there were a couple of scenes that I couldn't quite fit into the final cut, which makes me sad. One featured Margaret and a game of Scrabble, and the other featured a somewhat incompetent psychiatrist who repeated "that's highly significant!" an awful lot. So there. My secrets are revealed!
That was my second remix, and it was so much fun - these things become a lot less stressful when you realize you're basically getting to write fanfic for a fanfic. Looking forward to
who_remix next!

Date: 2009-07-27 05:02 pm (UTC)I'm so happy you are a M*A*S*H fan. Now I can squee somewhere other than at walls! I watched like four episodes yesterday at my friend's house because OMG SHE HAS A FUNCTIONAL TV I have so missed having a TV so I can watch it.
I'm excessively amused that XKCD can breed fic. Now I totally have to try it. =D
