Quick notes!

Just saw the new Trek trailer, and I have only two things to say, the second of which is probably spoilery:

1) Kirk's mom is Allison Cameron! I giggled.

2) "James T. Kirk was a great man. But that was another life."

I am a certified sucker for alternate universe/colliding universe/what-have-you stories, and the vague spoilers I've seen floating around are making me very happy indeed. :D

Basically, I am altogether too excited about this.

I'm really excited at the prospect of the movie bringing in a whole new set of fans. :D (And so far, the trailers/hype have been causing a lot of other fans to dust off their communicators and tricorders and rejoin fandom, which makes me happy.)

The movie was originally supposed to be out for Christmas '08, but it certainly seems like they've done the right thing by waiting - they're really building the thing up.

The Trek of my childhood was mostly TNG, which the movies did quite a thorough job of ruining already, so I'm not terribly averse to some mindless squee at this point. ;) I do hope it'll be entertaining - and even if not, I hope they give us some sort of an out so the movieverse and the TVverse can coexist separately.

This trailer has got me so excited for the movie*. It's so wonderful, people I know who have never had any sort of interest in Star Trek are coming up to me and telling me that they think it looks awesome.

*And also that little spoiler on what Scotty said, in regards to testing something. It's not a significant thing, but it had me laughing.

I'm so excited about the new fans coming in (with reservations, yes, but I've just entered TOS fandom recently myself, so I'm not really one to talk). Trek fandom's a whole lot quieter than I expected - especially on LJ!

And all the articles about various and sundry people wanting to start up new Trek TV shows if the movie is a success have me full of squee. :D
