This post contains spoilers and ranting about series four. MANY SPOILERS FOR SERIES FOUR. For series four, yes. Definitely.
Oh, clever fandom! On occasion you remind me why I stick around. :D (The comments in particular are gold. Be sure to read them. Comment here if confused.)
Big Bang fic progress: 2000 words and counting. On schedule so far, believe it or not! Mine is an insane sort of schedule.

I love that there's so much history to this fandom that it's actually possible to play an awesome joke like this. How many other TV shows/etc. have a history so vast that fandom can trick another part of itself in good fun?? Brilliant!

Date: 2008-03-15 07:59 am (UTC)I just listened to the Most Awesomest Easter Egg commentary on "The Five Doctors", which mostly involves David Tennant, Helen Raynor and Phil Collinson geeking out over anything and everything whilst being plyed with champagne. Towards the end, they are giggling at every little thing (include the pink polka-dot pyjamas of Rassilon). It was amazing! And yes, at the beginning they were all: "Wait, why are we even doing this? We were all about twelve years old when this came out and- OOOH IT'S GALLIFREY! DID YOU SEE THAT? THAT WAS GALLIFREY! SQUEE!" That was an insanely amusing ninety minutes. Special mention goes to David Tennant fondly remembering Peri in a bikini, and Phil Collinson fondly remembering Turlough in a Speedo.
But yes! That exemplifies the long history of the show. People who grew up watching it are
getting tipsy whilerecording DVD commentaries for it. It's just brilliant!(Also, heck, I've almost been at it a year and I've still got miles of canon left. Hooray!)

Date: 2008-03-15 08:12 am (UTC)leering overappreciating the physical aesthetic of actors of olde. (With an 'e' so that we're all aware of how serious this appreciation is. *shiftiness continues*The moral of the story?
Everything is made better with champagne!Doctor Who is an endless sea of awesome spanning out before fans of every generation! Okay, well. Every generation since the late sixties. Still! That's an awful lot of generationiness.Speaking of canon, I think I might go take a look at some of One's serials. It's about time, right? I'm off to hunt down your directory o' power... *hunts*

Date: 2008-03-15 08:19 am (UTC)(A note - while the first episode of "An Unearthly Child" is definitely awesomesauce, I found the rest of it to drag quite a lot. Adopting an unhealthy attachment to the main characters seems to help!)
I need to update that directory and mess around with it a bit to include veoh and things. That will be tomorrow's
(I need to get back to my whole epic Who-in-order thing! I stopped right before Hartnell's series three, and am not really relishing starting up again with fairly new companions and a reconstruction. But I will press on, for the wonder of Patrick Troughton commands me!)

Date: 2008-03-15 08:31 am (UTC)(Re: A note - I actually managed to watch the first epsiode of "An Unearthly Child" back in 'the day,' but then stopped. *ponders* Why this is remains a bit of a mystery. I suppose I magically knew of this dragging nonsense that would occur and preemptively decided to spare myself? *ponders* Yes. Yes indeed. When in doubt one should always assume that previously unknown psychic abilities were the logical cause!)
Yay! Procrastination! (I find this icon far more clever than it actually is, and thus am using it at every available opportunity. *displays proudly*) I'm glad to hear that I was indirectly a part of this procrastination process (because really, if you're going to participate in any of man's grand endevours, shouldn't procrastination be it? Well, if you ever got around to it anyway...).
*blinkblink* A Who-in-order thing would be epic indeed and if it wasn't for that Patrick Troughton wonder... (Damn him and his wonderfulness! It's the recorder that does it, I'm convinced.)
