If you haven't already, go watch the First Doctor's era. Srsly.

Barbara rather randomly starts eyeing Ian and comments on what a good-looking Roman he makes.

Ian, on hearing this, is of course the very soul of modesty.

Barbara protests that Ian's hair is a bit too much on the 1960s 20th-century side to mesh well with the whole ensemble. Ian wants to go back to the part where they're talking about how handsome he is.

Barbara will have none of it and drags him off.

Barbara reveals her instrument of torture comb, and Ian is horrified...

...and promptly tries to escape.

By falling over. (Maybe he was hoping for distraction via compromising position?)

Barbara has him cornered! Of course, she's just finished running over Daleks with a giant truck, so Ian's not too likely to want to pick a fight with her.

Ian pulls faces and acts three years old, and Barbara cheerfully ignores him.

Eventually, Ian resolves himself to his fate. Under protest, mind. Yes. Protest.

Just so long as she doesn't bring out the curling iron.

Barbara orders him to go to her room check out her handiwork.

Ian scrutinizes his reflection-

-and starts marching around the room. "Frrrriends! Romans! Countrymen!"

"Lend me your ears!"

"Oh boy, that was a mistake."

They are so the Old School OTP.

Hee! Okay, I'm done my squeefest. Back to your regularly scheduled f-list. (And hey! Now I've figured out how to do screencaps!)

It's a fun serial - a bit on the wacky/jokey side at times, but still very interesting. Also, this scene.

And yes, Barbara's helmet hair is not terribly flattering - in the second series especially she starts wearing it back a lot more.
