Back when I was a teensy little weather nerd and taking my very first out-of-city bus ride, my Mom warned me against talking to crazy strangers on the bus.  Because, as we all know, you always wind up sitting next to a crazy stranger on the bus.  It's a law of nature.

My latest hobby, now that I'm commuting between my parents' place and my condo every few weeks, has been to become that crazy stranger on the bus.  It's extremely fun.

Supplies necessary: one (1) textbook on weather analysis to pore over intently, three (3) pencils/pens to stick behind ears/chew/lose under the seat, and two (2) bags of cookies.  It's a simple thing.

Right.  Not a lot is happening here, except that it's mysteriously ten degrees warmer at my condo than at my parents' house.  I'm not going to complain - finally, a little summer!

Supervisor and a few grad students are back from field school tomorrow, giving me a much-needed opportunity to, y'know, actually get some useful work done.  I've finished all the work assigned to me (to "keep me busy"), and written a clever little program (yes, I do say so myself, thank you very much) that'll decode some hail data and put it into a nice little spreadsheet.

Maybe I'll get to do some statistical analysis this week!  And maybe I'm one heckuva geek for being terribly excited at that prospect.  Just maybe.

You're the crazy person on the bus?!

*envy*

Congrats! Man, already the official crazy... I'm so proud of you. *sniff* *wipes away tear*

And you carry around two bags of cookies?

That's it. You're my officially my hero. I have every intention of modeling any future crazy-outings on this basic layout. Genius!

And this sentence: Maybe I'll get to do some statistical analysis this week!

*shoulder pat* Oh, you cute science geek you. (You and the Doctor!)

Well, they're little bags of cookies. But they serve their purpose admirably. Ish. *munches*

And guess what? I walk into work today and my supervisor starts off with "I think we can get you started on some statistical analysis." Woohoo! *dances the dance of the irredeemable geek*

Irredeemable geekiness FTW!

(I was just discussing my brand-new sandals with the 4" heels, on another site, and one of my friends mentioned that she hates those tiny short little spike heels called "kitten heels". And I said they're terribly unstable because they're so short; a fairly small tip-over in terms of distance is quite large in terms of degrees of arc. And she said "Geek attack!" *g*)
