Insert Witty Title Here
Aug. 14th, 2007 09:45 pmWhat did I do today, you ask?
(Hush, you know you were thinking it.)
(...well, now you are. Lemme finish.)
1. Got up. Got out of bed. Dragged a comb- sorry. Beatles moment.
2. Ate a huge bowl of Alphabits, which I haven't had in years, in front of the laptop and watched "Dalek", just for the heck of it. If I have to get up early, I'm gonna start the day off right, dangit!
3. Wore one of my touristy London t-shirts, because I fangirl that city liek woah. (Besides, my closet is made up of only two sets of clothes: no-name brand stuff I picked up at Costco and touristy shirts I picked up wherever. Fashion sense = me.)
4. Went to my weekly two o'clock let's-show-off-our-research meeting, which generally runs long because I bring graphs and wind up rambling for an hour. Since it's my last week, I decided to leave the graphs and just sort of sum things up. Still rambled for an hour.
5. Had an embarrassing blushing-and-stammering moment when my supervisor declared that he and my coworkers will be taking me out to lunch tomorrow as a goodbye. My supervisor, being the hilariously awkward person he is, quickly added: "Not that we're happy you're leaving or anything! It's not like we're having a party because you're leaving! Oh, please don't think that!" Am quite disappointed that he's taking a sabbatical next year, but plan to follow him around in my spare time and help out on the paper, so all's well.
6. Got INSIDER INFORMATION on the newDefense Against the Dark Arts Atmospheric Science professor (well, candidate) taking over for my supervisor next year. That's a position I don't envy - teaching seven courses (one of which is the super-popular "Violent Weather" course, with class sizes in excess of 450!), not-so-great pay, and not getting a permanent position out of the mess. Ouch.
7. Did some graphing magic and created a pointlessly colourful mosaic that shows off how many bits of data I was working with, which is apparently important for some reason.
8. Practiced violin and finally aced that silly A-major arpeggio. And the G-major one. Convinced myself I was on a roll and played through the whole first Suzuki book with marginal success.
9. Watched a bunch of "Doctor Who Confidential", because that show is MADE OF CRACK. Seriously. "My Humps" describing John Smith and Joan Redfern's relationship? I love the musical montages! And the interviews! They're all so adorable.
10. Realized that I'm blogging when I've got THE VERY FABRIC OF TIME AND SPACE TO UNRAVEL! And I'm on a deadline, too...
...phew. I've still got two more hours. More on that soonish.
