Anyone ever wonder how many sci-fi stars were on MacGyver at one time or another? (hint: it's more than just the one) Clearly this calls for a picspam! An advent calendar-ish picspam!

I'm not so good with faces, so there are just the stunningly obvious ones I picked out and could remember off the top of my head, but we've got a bunch of shows represented, here! Three Treks, Stargate, Twin Peaks, Babylon 5... it's zaniness! What did they look like then? What were they doing? Did anyone else get struck down by the Curse of Fatal Mullet?

Now, I've only grabbed the really obvious ones, here. I have to point that out because I'm sure there are about a trillion actors who also appeared as "man with alien toenails" on one episode of the X-Files or something. These are the wackier examples. Beginning with...

That's right! It's George Takei! He doesn't get a whole lot to do in this very silly episode, but it's George Takei, and Mr. Sulu's awesomeness knows no bounds by definition.

Don S. Davis (Gen. Hammond on SG-1, Bobby Briggs's dad on Twin Peaks, Scully's dad on X-Files - lots of sci-fi cred!) was a stunt double for Dana Elcar on MacGyver, but he was also in a couple episodes! Here he is one of the bad guys, but he's the most competent of the bunch and eventually sees the error of his ways, so it's all good.

Now, I'm not that familiar with Babylon 5, but apparently the name "Londo Mollari" should ring some bells! That's right, it's Peter Jurasik, who is sadly about to get eaten by ants or something. Yes, really.

It's Joan Chen - Josie from Twin Peaks! (Twin Peaks counts as sci-fi, right? I guess its primary genre is actually "mindfuck".) She gets to help rescue MacGyver's sorry behind when he gets mistaken for a drug enforcement agent - hey, it happens.

Nana Visitor! It's been ages since I saw DS9, but I do remember Kira Nerys - here, she's one of MacGyver's endless string of vaguely platonic BFFs from way back when. Stuff blows up in this episode a lot.

Q who? John de Lancie, that's who! (Also Simmons on SG1, of course.) Here, he's less of an omnipotent being, but just as much of a jerk - MacGyver busts him out of jail, but it turns out he's really not such a great guy. Don't worry, Mac - everyone falls for it the first time!

Teal'c? O'Neill? Hilarity. Christopher Judge is a sarcastic high school football player in this episode. MacGyver's doing some sort of physics demonstration, I think, but I can't be sure because I was too busy giggling.

And the winner of the "worst hair" award goes to:

Dan Shea, Sgt. Siler from SG-1! Wow. I mean. Wow.

And, okay, I guess we need to finish up with an adorkable RDA picture in the goofiest outfit I could find at short notice:

That should do it! Ladies and gentlemen, Jack O'Neill.

I have so much love for MacGyver and his total goofiness.

And I totally remember cracking up at the Chris Judge episode, too!

Dan Shea was in it too? Oh man, I have got to start watching it again (I've got the first two seasons on DVD from an age ago, but I only made it halfway through S2 before I got... distracted by something shiny?). The Chris Judge episode is wonderful; it's like the ultimate battle of 80s hair.

Also, is it sad that I know (though, it may or may not be true) that Michael Shanks was apparently inspired to pursue acting after seeing RDA filming an episode of MacGyver?

MacGyver is in our classics channel right now - five days a week! - and I'm recording it all for my father, so I'm not missing a thing.

The Peter Jurasik episode is a tribute to a Charlton Heston movie called The Naked Jungle, which by coincidence aired on another channel shortly after I rewatched that one.

I don't really watch MacGuyver, but I saw the George Takei episode. I hunted it down specifically just because I'd heard he was in it. I had no idea the show was such a treasure trove of "before they were aliens" cameos!

LONDOOOOO!! :) It's always so strange to see Peter Jurasik with, you know...normal hair.

Wasn't Dwight Schultz in a bunch of MacGyver eps? Or am I completely misremembering that?

*dies* Oh yeah, Siler with ringlets... I've seen it before, but his expression in that cap is better than the one I found.

And Teal'c - I only watched that episode for him and RDA. You've seen [livejournal.com profile] lolmac 's caption for that shot, of course? "Dude... whutz wit da hair?"

This picspam is made of SO MUCH WIN. ♥ ♥ ♥

I love MacGyver something fierce, and I had no idea there'd been so many sci-fi guest-stars on the show. Nana Visitor! I'm watching DS9 right now, and man, does she look young in this picture.

there are quite a few future trek people in macgyver;

bruce mcgill (jack dalton) who was in one episode of voyager was in 19 episodes

teri hatcher (penny parker) had a bit part in a next generation episode was in 6 macgyver episodes. she also dated RDA briefly.

in the behind the scenes catagory; cliff bole directed 12 macgyver episoes & would go on to direct dozens of TNG, DS9 & VOY episodes. the blue skin bolians are named for him

I'm not sure how I can completely misremember a series I've never even seen (sg-1), but hey, if you say so...
