Woe is me!
Jul. 12th, 2007 01:34 pmSo I sort of... wrenched my ankle on the way back from supper yesterday. And it still hurts. Not badly, but enough for me to want to sit in my room all day with my feet up.
The most annoying thing is that it's my left ankle, and I'm used to limping on my right side because of the knee. Very confusing. The number of walls I've run into this morning alone! (Way more than my usual four or five times, anyway. :D)
On the topic of whining, it's hot out. Another heat wave, and this one's gonna be longish. 'Course, I shouldn't complain - was it last year we had snow in July? (There was one year where we had snow at least once every month. How depressingly stereotypical. And yet we still can't manage a white Christmas? *shakes fist*)
Did anyone else, when listening to "Terror Firma", feel an overpowering urge to write a fic with Agatha Christie as the companion? Way too awesome. And the companions-that-weren't, as well ("Skipper"? Guitars coming to life? Heehee.) I might drabble.
Hit a bit of an impasse with the epic fic (manifesting in staring contests with blank screens), mostly because there are a few character whatsits I haven't thought through too well. I'm getting the hang of it again, though. Yay! :D
Came up with a very, very messed-up idea for a Hiatus-era Holmesfic. Might be a while before I can figure out how on Earth to pull it off, though (surprise endings are tricky that way...).
I need to get groceries, I really do (I've got about enough food for one more solid meal and one whatever's-lying-around meal), but I don't really want to walk the ten blocks to Safeway, load up a backpack and both arms with bags of groceries, and walk back with a sore ankle in this heat. Maybe I'll just get creative.
(Woah, wait! I think I still have tortillas! And cheese! And celery and carrots and, um, possibly radishes. I can make weird quesadillas! *dances*)

Date: 2007-07-12 11:06 pm (UTC)I broke down and went to Super Wal-Mart and bought a ton of food. So I have a lot to eat now.
Came up with a very, very messed-up idea for a Hiatus-era Holmesfic. WRIIIITE. I shall eagerly await this. I need to get off my duff and write some myself. I am pathetically behind in my own stuff. I'm hoping to start again soon, maybe even next week when I get back from a weekend home.
And it is fricking hot. It's okay to whine.

Date: 2007-07-13 12:18 am (UTC)I actually wound up going to Save-on-Foods with my roommate (sort of hopped in the car when she wasn't paying attention, heehee), so now I'm all fooded up, too. Unfortunately, showing my usual lack of planning-aheadness, I still had to walk home. So my ankle's protesting fairly loudly. Silly ankle. *grumbles*
And word to the feeling of not being able to catch up on your own writing! I've managed to get quite a lot written today, but the Hiatus!fic's getting bumped down on my to-do list, at least until I've managed to get the first chapter of my epic Doctor Who fic posted.
Also, I still haven't a clue how I'm going to pull this one off. If I mess it up even a little bit, I expect people to go "What? What was that? What just happened? Why did they say that? Are they on crack? Are you on crack?" And then my head explodes. So, yes, thinking it over carefully is a good plan. :D

Date: 2007-07-13 01:32 pm (UTC)Yes, I love Charles Gray. He pops up randomly in lots of movies and I'm always like, "Mycroft!" He's in a few of the Hammer Horror movies.
