Saw the two-minute CiN preview for the Doctor Who Christmas special - here it be - and am very much on the excited side. Possible spoilers follow:

Most of you know that I am a huge fan of the Big Finish audio The One Doctor, so this "what what what two Doctors?" setup - no matter how similar the actual storyline may be - makes me squee way too loudly. By the way, if you have not yet heard The One Doctor, you must listen to it right away. Go now. Yes, now. It's worth buying sight-unseen (or, um, sound-unheard?), for it features Six and Mel and several massive bucketloads of awesome. And those are metric massive bucketloads, you know. They're. Um. Big buckets.

SPEAKING OF THINGS, look! A new shiny preview for the third series of Eighth Doctor audios! I haven't actually finished listening to series two yet (so behind on... everything, pretty much, but that way I can marathon things! Right? Right!), so I was a bit confused, but it still sounds very exciting and all.

(Quasi-fannish thing - I have started putting little post-its everywhere a la Get Smart movie, and I am actually remembering to do things! It's nifty. Thanks, movie! And, um, we'll ignore the stuff I forget to write down on the post-its. Anyone else a compulsive list-maker? How do you guys keep organized? I am always looking for new tips. Aaand my post-its just fell off the wall again.)

Am almost done rewatching the original series of Star Trek (woe!), and am amazed at how little I remember of it. I suppose I probably saw it a bit differently at the age of five. Ahem. And oh my goodness, there are some cracky episodes. Some are also very nifty, though! Am looking forward to rewatching the movies very much! And the new one! Exciting time to be a Trek fan. :D

All I can really say about Yuletide is this: HURRAH! I am very excited about my assignment. And, you know, the whole Yuletide thing, because obscure fandoms! I love them.

(Am way, way, way, way behind on NaNo, with my 5,000 words on the first day and pretty much nothing else. This weekend may be a turnaround point? We'll see. [livejournal.com profile] elyssadc, you'll be getting a finished fic out of that at some point, mark my words!)

ME TOO. I don't even care how closely it skews to The One Doctor, because in such a case it could not possibly be a bad thing. XD Only improvement upon the audio I can wish for is that Doctor and Impostor spend more time working together, like if maybe Ten decides to tag along and innocuously play companion or something. <3

I'M A COMPULSIVE LIST MAKER. I even have a freaking lj tag for it.

Yes! Exactly! That would be awesome. The few seconds we got in the preview of Ten-as-baffled-companion were so excellent. Hee!

I even have a freaking lj tag for it.

I was actually considering making a (private) LJ to store all my lists, because, well. Tags and such? It would be an extra level of organization, which always works well with me. :D My friends tease me about my endless lists a fair bit, but I pointed out that spending half an hour a day getting all my assignments and such plotted out meant that I had many more evenings free. Victory always goes to the more organized!

That is the truest thing I've heard all week.

Holy crap. I got so caught up in thinking about the One Doctor that I didn't even register the bit with my actual NAME in it. Reading comprehension bad. BAAAD. But yes! I know you'll finish it eventually. I'd much rather you take your time and enjoy the process than stress out trying to get it done by some arbitrary date. So, HAVE FUN with it!

Oh, I'm definitely having fun with it! (With such a perfect prompt, how couldn't I?) But yes, running around like crazy recently, and Yuletide's deadline is looming already, with their oh-so-innocuous countdown on the main page. Heehee.

I do know how it ends, though. It's just the in-between that could be sneaky. ;)

(There has been snow here recently, which means that I will get to overuse this icon like crazy. Excellent!)

Yes! I mean, that would just be so good. So good. David Morrissey would've made a super-awesome Banto Zane, so this will be super-perfect. Yes. That sentence made sense. Super-sense!

(Also kinda hoping for a cheery/hilarious Christmas special this year, anyway!)

I do not think it can be as glorious as The One Doctor because he says TARDIS there, instead os STARDIS. I would kill to see Ten's face if he saw the STARDIS. I am so happy for new Ten! I shall treasure him more than ever.

Lucie audios! I interrupted my marathon to, er, marathon First Doctor episodes (I just met Vicki!), but I am very much in love with Lucie and her dynamic with Eight. Also with Sheridan Smith's haircut, but that's neither here or there.

I would kill to see Ten's face if he saw the STARDIS.

I was a little disappointed at that too, because half the fun of the premise was Six getting all blustery over this particular incarnation of his beloved TARDIS. Heehee. Also, no loo-flushing noises. (Well, maybe? They might just have kept the name the same, the better to fool people early on? I will hold out hope.)

Sheridan Smith does indeed have an excellent haircut! I think I should maybe take a picture of her with me to the hairdresser's whenever I go, because I never seem to have a preference when they ask me.

(And Vicki! Vicki is so, so awesome. I will use my one Vicki icon in honour of her awesomeness!)

I agree, I love The One Doctor like a mad little thing... but I adore this too! Don't understand the gripe.

Morrissey had me as soon as he did the cocky wink thing. XD

Icon! So awesome!

Don't understand the gripe.

I tend not to understand most gripes fandom seems to acquire, but this one really baffles me quite a lot. I mean, no matter how good or bad people believe the Christmas special will be (and, come on, it'll be immensely amusing at the very least), the fact remains that word has already gone round about the awesomeness of the audio, and Big Finish in general, and how is that a bad thing? (I've seen/fielded several questions in the last couple weeks alone from people looking for more information about these audios everyone was on about.)

Morrissey had me as soon as he did the cocky wink thing. XD

With all the Elevens going around lately, I managed to completely confuse him with somebody else, so I had a little punch-the-air moment when he rushed in. "Blackpool! Right!"

Icon! So awesome!

Isn't it? XD I got it from over yonder this way...

the fact remains that word has already gone round about the awesomeness of the audio, and Big Finish in general, and how is that a bad thing?

I know, right? This is like, free publicity for BF! "Huh, this is based on what? Really? Maybe I should go check that out..."

Never mind the fact the New Who eps so far have been simply "inspired" and have no way actually straight ripped-off anything... It's the concepts that were being taken, not the actual scripts. That I have no problem with.

(I'll say what I said before... the only disappointment I have is that Donna isn't here for DM to hit on every five seconds. That would have made for mucho lolz, ha!)

A friend of mine proposed the very sound theory that DM is a theatrical showman that saw Ten in action somewhere and made an act out of it. I'm sticking to that for now.

Yes, exactly! And then there's all the overlap between the people who do Big Finish and the people who do New Who, which makes lots of arguments a bit silly, all in all. (I have actually seen people complain about how Dalek was so obviously based on Jubilee. Um. Same writer, guys?)

A friend of mine proposed the very sound theory that DM is a theatrical showman that saw Ten in action somewhere and made an act out of it.

Okay, I love that theory! Surely there must be scads of people around the universe who've started running around like the Doctor.

And in reply to your edit: HEE! Oh, that would have been epic. :D

(I have actually seen people complain about how Dalek was so obviously based on Jubilee. Um. Same writer, guys?)

Not to mention that Rob Shearman rips off himself all the time anyway. "Dalek" and Jubilee have totally different plot all together! The only thing that's similar is the scene where Nine/Six is locked in a room with the lone Dalek. That's it.

And closest similarity "The Fires of Pompeii" and The Fires of Vulcan share is the title. On top of that, the stories could easily have taken place simultaneously. (I'm a bit in love with the idea someone proposed on OG that in the "Turn Left" universe, it was Seven and Mel who sorted the Pyroville mess out in Ten and Donna's absence...)

HEE! Oh, that would have been epic. :D

Donna would have totally broken her "Runaway Bride" record for number of times she slapped the same person in a single episode... ;)

Well, I'm going to sulk when there isn't a tango between Ten and impostor!Ten/possibly!Eleven/whoever-he-is, but I'm looking forward to more Morrissey. (Haven't heard "The One Doctor" yet.)

Who says there's not going to be any tangoing? I'm sure they'll be able to work it in... there... somewhere? Darn. Okay, yeah. That's sulkworthy, that is. Next thing you'll be telling me there won't be any musical numbers!

(Haven't heard "The One Doctor" yet.)

It's what sold me on both Six and Mel - neither of whom I'd bothered to watch up until that point. For sheer excellent silliness, I can recommend no better!

Yes! I'm looking forward to a lulzy Christmas this year. (Ouch, that sounds like a terrible sort of carol. Ahem.)

I'm dreaming of a lulzy Christmas,
Just like the ones I used to know!
Where the Doctors quarrel,
And the baddie's immoral-
-But funny, and that's the very best!

...okay, I don't know. Hee!

I love the sheer immensity of the Big Finish universe! It's wonderfully overwhelming to know how much more there is to listen to. Warm fuzzies all around!

(Zagreus is such a bizarre audio - have fun picking out the billions of voice actors!)

It is indeed a good pain! Ah. Mostly, anyway. ;)

I am now disappointed, because for some reason I thought there were 26 episodes in the final season, but there were only 24. None left! Aww.

(Dang. I need a Trek icon, now.)

THANK YOU for that - I knew there was some sort of nifty online list-making service that I'd seen around, but I kept forgetting what it was called! (Thus why I need to make more lists, clearly!) I will have a great time with this. :D
