Weather Control Machine in the year 2000!

This is a very cool blog called Paleo-Future, which I have just been exploring - the post I've linked there is a set of postcards, circa 1900, that show what life would be like in the year 2000. I want my own personal airship, dangit!

Those are smashing!

It's interesting to note that quite a few of them (the movable pavement; moving house by moving the house on rails) come from the early German SF classic 'On two planets'. At least, the moving houses do - the pavements are probably more widespread.
