Fic Rec (the Last Minute Remix)
Apr. 25th, 2008 01:50 pmWell, tomorrow is the reveal date for
remixredux08, so I suppose I had best post my #1 Super Awesome Rec before the names start popping up! (And if anyone would care to guess which fic I wrote, message me or leave a comment here - they'll be screened! If you guess correctly, you get a fic (not a ficlet, a full-fledged fic) of your choice that I will endeavour to actually write in the near future.)
My #1 Super Awesome Rec is, of course, for the incomparable The Boy Who Killed Time (The Last Love Song Remix), which I think is very probably the winner of Remix '08 and all things ever. The original was brilliant, but this is utterly outstanding - it's a heartbreaking (not to mention witty and occasionally downright hilarious) flyover of the Doctor's life and companions, touching on the very beginning, the Time War, and everything in between and beyond. Every single character rings true in this, but I am particularly fond of the conversation between Leela and Eight. If you only read one Doctor Who fic this year, make it this one, for it is perfect and utterly inspiring for any fanfic writer who's ever wanted to really do something special.
Now go read it.
(There are many, many amazing fics out there this year, but I haven't had much of a chance to browse just yet. More recs should be coming in the near future!)
