Highlights from the Queue - June 19th

I think that I am going to make this a (mostly) daily thing, yes, because there is quite a lot of awesome out there, and who could possibly object to more fic recs?

Title: Istanbul (Not Constantinople)
Author: Elliptic Eye (elliptic_eye on LJ)
Characters: The Doctor, the Valeyard, and the ones who come in between, mostly.
Summary: Committing suicide was a real challenge if you were a Time Lord.

Why you must read this fic: Because it is complex, wonderfully so. It's clever and draws on established canon and spins it off into all sorts of amazing directions that are really more like spirals, taking you back where you started, but just a bit off, and everything's still moving inexorably to that centre-

Okay, forget the rambling metaphor. It is clever and witty and poignant all at once, and you should read it!

*admires* Wow. When I talk about 'highlights' from the Queue, I'm usually just talking about the memorable stuff, for better or worse. This is really good stuff. An actual highlight, dare I say.
