Edit: The dumpster across the street is on fire. Ah.

Hm! No, I did not.

But I did see who set the fire - I glanced out the window about an hour beforehand and saw three people smoking on the front step of the school and generally sounding quite drunk. Mystery solved!

(Apparently there's been a bunch of arson in the area lately. So what else is new?)

Ah, well, I guess drunken people are the same all around the world... My neighbourhood is kind of posh, which means it's quiet, but which also means there's a dramatic lack of shops, cinemas, restaurants or anything else interesting around (except for parks. I like parks, and there are parks.)

Ah, yes! My neighbourhood is sort of a weird combination - there are about a dozen bars in a five-block radius from my apartment, so there's quite a lot of graffiti and such, but it's not completely awful because it's so close to the university. There's also the fact that the avenue a few blocks down is a big tourist attraction, and sort of the centre of the city's cultural and creative festivals. So in a five-minute walk, I can get to the library, any of a number of bars or restaurants, various spas and health food stores, a bunch of theatres, and a ton of window-shopping, and the river valley's about the same distance away if I ever want a nice walk in the forest. Pretty much the definition of an awesome location!

I just had a look at a map of Edmonton. It looks really weird. I know it's completely normal to you, but all those parallel streets! That's so creepy! Well, not really creepy, but... it's just very unsettling.

I think one of the reasons against me visiting Europe is that I'll get lost. Easily. All those twisting and turning streets might unsettle me, heh.

Also, I live practically in- er, the rival city of Edmonton, and I get lost even with easy to read parallel streets.
