Okay! Time for a real update! You know you love these. With numbers! And stuff!
Number 1: My aches and pains. I've been a terrible klutz this weekend, for reasons possibly having to do with being back at my parents' house after three weeks elsewhere. Or, y'know, just because that's usually how I am. Apart from the terrible blisters of doom (the freakishly fast healing of which has resulted in some terrible stiffness), I've bashed my elbow on a coffee mug (which then, very considerately, shattered) and wrenched my shoulder trying to... do something. I dunno, but apparently it involved lying on the floor. I think I was trying to build a new table lamp out of flashlights and ponytail holders and pencils. Needless to say, this seemed like a better idea at the time. (It works, though!)
Number 2: Me having Doctor Who on the brain. I was playing some crib with my Gran and my parents, and every time I played a Jack, I kept saying "Jack" instead of, y'know, counting. It was, apparently, annoying.
Number 3: Dexter! This is a really, really good show, but it brings new meaning to the whole messed-up-antihero thing. (When you're rooting for a serial killer, something's just plain wrong.) But he's so clueless! (And holy crap but his Dad's a weirdo. Living vicariously much?) I did have trouble with it early on, but it started to redeem itself, and now I'm excited for the rest. I'm just about to watch the season finale with supper - huzzah!
Number 4: My mysterious pocketwatch. No, really. My Mom gave me a pocketwatch when I was a kid (it's from Thailand, I think, and looks just plain awesome with all the writing I can't read all over it), and I, being a clever little six-year-old, threw it in a box somewhere and forgot about it. I'd really like to find it , now that I know someone who could get it running again. Because, really, what Doctor Who fan wouldn't kill for a pocketwatch about now? :D All I've found so far on my quest has been a bag of foreign coins (yup, used to collect! What can I say - I'm a nut for shiny round things). And a bunch of little hair clips shaped like dragonflies that I'm pretty sure I never wore in my life. I should really do some more nosing around before I go home.
Number 5: My Who!fic! I managed to talk myself through the tricky scenes (literally) and I actually got a solid five or six pages written of the new chapter. Huzzah! I also have a bunch of jokes planned, and I know exactly where I want to stop this chapter. So, once I have chapter two written and shipped off to
imsanehonest for masterly (Masterly) beta-working, I'll post the first chapter (4,000-ish words, I think). I'm excited - it's been a long time since I had an epic!fic.
Number 6: Doctor Who novels. I've been reading some of the Eighth Doctor novels (speed-reading, which explains why I've run through a good dozen of 'em this weekend alone) and generally enjoying them. Totally different take from the audios, though. And do they ever love torturing Eight! Yikes. Guy's got issues. Also been listening to the audios again, and reaffirming how much I loff them.
Number 7: Forgetting it's a holiday weekend. Happy Canada Day, all! (Or Dominion Day, if you'd rather.) I very cleverly booked my return trip for today (Sunday), but caught the mistake early enough so that I could shift it to Monday without any ill effect. Yay!
Number 8: Cycling! I tagged along with my parents for a nice little five-mile through the extensive network of paths around here. Good times! The Converse love my bike. So comfy! My bike's coming apart at the seams, though (the front tire inexplicably pulls to the right despite my best ministrations, and my braking's nearly shot, which is obviously a very good thing to have happen). Dad's promised to get it fixed while I'm gone - huzzah!
Number 9: Being a lazy so-and-so. Because I actually do have quite a lot of work to do this weekend, and instead I'm doing numbers 1 through 8 above. Yay! :D
Number 10: Freaking out over my brother graduating. He'll be in Iowa by the end of August! Weird, that. A very nice thing I've learned: it costs about one tenth as much to rent a house in small-town Iowa as it does to rent one hereabouts. Neat! Also: scary. Our real-estate market's gone a little bonkers.
Number 11: Heroes or Life on Mars. Which should I tackle next? I'm tempted to go the Heroes route because of Eccleston, of course (despite my terrible lack of Nine!icons, he is my favourite). I'm also extremely tempted to watch Life on Mars because of Simm, of course, but also because it just sounds like it has amazing writing. And then there's The Office. I really need to watch that. And, uh, basically everything. We'll be stopping by the real town of Deadwood en route to Iowa this summer, so I should probably catch up on that show. And I still need to watch season three of House. And - so sue me - I have a strange craving to marathon a bunch of old Cheers episodes. I'm still not finished watching Scrubs! (Or all of Arrested Development, for that matter.) And then there's the third (and final - sniff!) season of Veronica Mars. And classic Doctor Who. And MI-5. And the new season of Wire in the Blood, once it's out!
...maybe I should just lock myself in my room for a few years and watch TV all day. :D
Okay. I'll just, uh, watch random episodes of stuff. And see what happens.
In fact, I'm gonna watch the pilot of Life on Mars right now. Yeah. There's a plan for you! Because the internet is a small world, and streaming video is my veddy best friend.
Wow. I got derailed there. Let's try again.
Number 12: Oh. I guess that's all to report. Well, then.
*shifty eyes*
*flees*
ETA: Gah. Forgot how slow the internet is, here. If I can get it to load without pummelling the modem into a billion satisfyingly crunchy pieces, I'll watch the first episode of Life on Mars.

Date: 2007-07-04 08:06 am (UTC)And there are worse ways to decide about a plot-point! I mean, I tend to make stuff up as a go, causing me to make up solutions to problems I invented by picking a random plot point as I go, causing me to make up solutions to the problems of the problems I invented... and so on.
...
Eh, methodical-ness is overrated anyway. *joins in fleeing*
That being said, should you choose to pick a plot point in such a manner, I'm sure the coin would be wise and mighty in its decision. For it would be a Coin of Kagen! (TM)
*cough* Anywho...
10) Oh, Iowa... Just... *sigh* Oh Iowa... (What more can be said, really?)
