"Just imagine," the Doctor says, "a planet with a civilisation that's entirely rejected the notion of scientific cause and effect."
Martha squints at the monitor. "Well," she says, "looks a bit like a snowstorm from here. Haven't you fixed the reception on this?"
He grins at her. "I mean it! A whole world where everything happens purely by chance. You and me, standing here, we're just in this instant, and nothing came before or after."
"Kind of a funny way to go about travelling in time," she says, and doesn't ask what happens next.
