Sarah tried keeping a calendar, the first few months, marking off the days based on when she slept, or the time back on Earth as near as she could figure. She gave up when she realised she'd finished June 1980 twice and was coming around for a third go.

It was ridiculous when she thought about it, keeping time in a time machine, and the Doctor told her so every time he found her scribbling in the calendar.

All the same, there was a comfort in crossing off the day before she went to bed, making her mark on time.

I love this line, it's quite amusing to contemplate.
