Random Things I Learned Today
Jun. 19th, 2007 10:07 pm1. In the States, apparently what we call "Rockets" are known as "Smarties". Really? That's just odd. (ood!)
2. Storms in the States generally occur higher in the troposphere than in Canada - that's because the atmosphere thins the closer you get to the poles. As a result, contrary to popular practice, it makes more sense to measure meteorological things in terms of millibar pressure than altitude, since a line of constant pressure will pass through similar portions of storms at very different altitudes.
3. My supervisor really can be in a bad mood. Said bad mood dissipates instantly when a round-table meeting brings up new hail research and he winds up pacing around the room and scribbling on every chalkboard he can find.
4. Someone who professes to hate all interaction with people will still take a candy from me when I offer. Either she really likes candy or I'm just that irresistable. Possibly both.
5. My flist has fantastic taste in music - thanks, guys! *offers cookies*
