Title: Argumentum Ad Metam (Interlude - chapter 4.5/6)
Author:
eponymous_rose
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Characters: Jo Grant, Third Doctor
Author's Note: It's become clear to me that I'm going to have to try and write the chapter five-six transition scene/cliffhanger/ending all in one sitting, so that should be finished up by tomorrow. In the meantime, a quick drabble!
Spoilers: For Argumentum Ad Metam, chapters 1-4. Just a little glimpse, set a few minutes after the events at the end of chapter four.
The car was silent; the driver, a man from UNIT she didn't recognise, hadn't spoken a word. He'd probably heard all about what had happened.
She turned to look at the Doctor, who had been staring out the window during the entire drive; he was still bleeding, and the side of his face was already bruised. Without thinking, she reached into her pocket for a handkerchief and handed it to him.
"Thank you," he said, absently, and stuffed it into his own pocket. "It'll be all right, Jo. You'll see."
"Yes, Doctor," she said, and wished she could believe him.
