Vicki stands in the corridor outside the console room, listens to the comforting buzz of the Ship's engines, to the Doctor humming in response.
It makes a change to the faint echoes of Steven's snoring.
She wants to go in, say the usual good mornings to the Doctor and have their usual discussion about how morning has no meaning in a time machine, but she pauses, briefly, on the threshold.
He glances up and smiles at her, and for the dozenth time since Barbara and Ian mentioned the name, she doesn't ask about Susan.
"Good morning," she says, and smiles.
