Doctor Who | Genesis
Jan. 12th, 2008 11:43 pmTitle: Genesis
Author:
eponymous_rose
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Characters: Ninth Doctor, TARDIS
Author's Note: Most of you will figure out why I've posted this on Classic Who Day. I'm not completely off my tree! (Speaking of which, third chapter of "The Deepsky Atlas" to follow.)
The TARDIS is still silent around him, scarred and blackened, but this is something he can do, something he can shift and change until it comes out right. A simple circuit, the first of the innumerable repairs.
Stripping the last wire carefully, he considers the board. It's barely serviceable, all frayed copper and dubious bits of silicon, but they're small steps, these.
He hesitates.
It's the beginning, then, this bunch of wires and soldered metal, this halfhearted attempt at perfection. The cold and silent time machine, the new start, the death of all his endings.
He touches wire to wire.
