Author:
eponymous_rose
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Characters: First Doctor, TARDIS
Author's Note: A happy centennial to William Hartnell!
Summary: Immediately after the events of The Edge of Destruction, the Doctor looks at the TARDIS in a new light.
The Ship is finally silent, save for a gentle humming, the console lights flickering with a wonderful, familiar irregularity.
They're all hysterical by this point, out the other side of the nightmare and seeing the world, the TARDIS, as though for the first time. There will be arguments and accusations, the Doctor knows, but in the meantime they can celebrate their victories.
The buzzing of the ship changes subtly in tone, lower, darker, and he looks up in alarm. It's remonstrative, chiding him for ever having doubted-
Tearing himself away from such ridiculous thoughts, he turns and opens the doors.
