Another reply to my Random Acts of Drabble post (which is still open for business - come one, come all!), this time from mad_march_hare, requested the Eighth Doctor, Fitz, and "a cultural misunderstanding".

The Doctor plucks the cigarette from Fitz’s lips, tosses it to the ground, and stomps on it. Twice.

“What the hell-“ Fitz protests, but the Doctor is grinning.

“Smoking’s illegal in this galaxy. Just saving you from an unpleasant fine.” He raises his foot from the crushed butt and gestures politely. “Unless, of course, you’d rather-“

“Much obliged,” Fitz grumbles.

Three hours and one abortive revolution later, when the Grand Empress whips out a ciggie and takes a long drag, Fitz glares at his friend.

The Doctor blinks innocently. “Filthy habit.”

Fitz rolls his eyes. “You owe me a smoke.”
