Conversations at Red Lights

On the way to work, I'm waiting at a red light at a really, really busy street (this is a long light) and this older man is sort of staring at me like he recognizes me. And it would've been creepy as anything if it weren't for the fact that I recognized him from somewhere.
Eventually, he spoke up: "So, violin?"
It took me a second to realize that, no, the guy wasn't totally bonkers, since I had my violin case strapped to my back. "Yup," I replied wittily.
"Ah."
Awkward silence. Well, it's a red light. They're always awkward by definition.
"Taking summer classes?"
I could tell that at this point the guy was still trying to place me. With about ten different kinds of awkwardness, I answered: "Actually, I'm a research assistant."
The guy broke out into a huge grin. "Good for you!"
And then the light changed.
It wasn't until I'd made it to my office that I realized where I knew the guy from. He's the freakin' Dean of Science!
(In a university with a student body of over 70,000, you don't just run into the Dean of the largest faculty. It's weird.)
Dunno where he'd recognize me from, though. I mean, I'm on the Dean's List, but so are about a billion other undergraduates. And I didn't have my name written on my forehead (well, I hope I didn't. I was up a little late last night, though, so who knows?).
Oh! I remember! The Something-or-other Achievers Dinner thing I went to in first year. He set the table on fire during an uber-geeky chemistry experiment. Twice.
Oh, and I finally got the TARDIS ringtone I so desired! If anyone else is interested, I may be able to set it up for free download. Possibly. If technology likes me at all.
