When you see this, post snippets of all your works-in-progress.

(Partly as a sort of spring-cleaning for my hard drive, and partly because I tend to completely forget any of these ever existed unless I dredge them up from time to time to remind myself.)

1. Sarah Jane Adventures | The Still Point (Sarah Jane Smith/Alan Jackson)

And, just like that, the world was set in motion again; it was the most natural thing to invite him in for a cuppa, and it was just as natural for him to accept with an easy laugh. The gentle bustle of activity, the rattle of cups and splash of water and good-natured debate over who should pour what, was stillness in comparison with the rush of excitement and fear and dread when Luke and the others had been late home that night. Everything was easier, smoothed over, a bit surreal in comparison.

2. Danger Man | Red Light/Green Light (John Drake, assorted bit characters)

"I was beginning to assume you'd been replaced by a less talkative double."

"There's an ingenious plot! I can tell you're just dying to try it out." Kasser grins. "I say, John, you haven't gone over already? We've laid odds on how long it'd take, but I-"

"Ingenuous, more like." Drake attempts to slouch further in his seat and nearly winds up on the floor. "I would be far more cunning than that. The public are all agog over doubles this year."

3. Man from U.N.C.L.E. | Postman Always Rings Twice (OC, Illya Kuryakin, Napoleon Solo)

I had this girlfriend, Dora, who used to tell me that anything could be interesting if you looked at it closely enough. I mean, it's a federal crime to read someone else's mail, so it's a bit like I'm delivering some sort of top-secret messages, travelling incognito in plain sight. Nobody looks twice at the mailman, and I see everything, and none of it happens to me.

4. Doctor Who | Untitled (Liz Shaw/Barbara Wright)

The woman shakes her head, smiling with an insincerity that reminds Barbara of the false redness of the sky above them. "It's inexplicable," she says. "And it should stay that way. Impossibilities are commonplace, now - we can only look to ourselves for mystery."

Barbara shrugs again, and the old ache in her shoulder is real and immediate for an instant, a strange sort of time travel. "You're clearly as mad as I am."

"Oh," the woman says, and looks up at the sky, "I've known madder."

5. Doctor Who/Sherlock Holmes | The Empty Planet (The Doctor, John Watson, Fitz Kreiner)

Holmes caught my astonished expression, and smiled. "I'm not Holmes," he said again, and I remembered a similar case suddenly, in a flash, of a woman who had been most cruelly treated and every day thereafter had insisted firmly that she was no longer Violet Marshall, typist and nanny, but Fiona Madrigal, world-renowned singer. She had, if I recalled correctly, lived out her days in Bedlam.

I shivered uncomfortably. "Doctor," I said.

6. Man from U.N.C.L.E. | How Does it Feel (Illya Kuryakin, Napoleon Solo)

There's a swath of cloud right across the sky, violent and dark and cutting against the white-blue, bleeding out in streams of cotton, and the wind's so strong that he's starting to wonder just how long it'll be before the whole thing blows itself out, tears itself apart. The grass is cool under his back, rustling with their breathing, waving out across the field, almost alive, almost dying.

7. Doctor Who/The Prisoner | Untitled (Tenth Doctor, Donna Noble, Number Six, Number Two)

Nobody's much cared to find out what happens next, because once you've come this far, how much further is there to go? But you know me (and you do, don't you?) - I've never been one to ignore any chance at digging up secrets, at changing universes with the little things people don't much care to find out.

8. Man from U.N.C.L.E. | Five Ways the World (Nearly) Ended on U.N.C.L.E.'s Watch (Illya Kuryakin, Napoleon Solo, Alexander Waverly)

"You probably shouldn't have given him ideas."

He didn't need to look up; Illya's scowl was coming off him in waves. "How was I to know he actually had a doomsday weapon? I thought those went out of style years ago."

9. The Middleman | The Sinister Storytime Stratagem (The Middleman, Wendy Watson, Lacey Thornfield, Noser, Ida)

He cleared his throat. "Since when are you concerned about retirement, Dubbie? What's brought this on?"

She stared at him. "A seventeen-foot bog monster from another planet."

"Ah." He had the decency to look sheepish.

Wendy rounded on him with a wet slosh. "Look," she said, with as much poise as she could muster with gore in her shoes, "when you said it was a seventeen-foot bog monster-"

The Middleman winced. "-you weren't expecting the seventeen feet?"

"Kicking!" Wendy waved her arms in a vain attempt to encompass the sheer magnitude of the podiatric nightmare. "There was a lot of kicking!"

10. Sapphire & Steel | Under the Knife (Sapphire, Steel, Silver)

"Hi Mum," he said, and there was something about him, an expectation and anxiety, as though he were preparing himself for a scolding. Something had changed; what had changed?

"Your fingernails are longer," she said, and knew by his startled expression that it wasn't what she was meant to have noticed at all. Without missing a beat, without having to turn the page, she grinned as though it were a joke and knew what to say next. "And your hair is purple."

He gave the cautious smile that meant he was perilously near to being proud of himself, and the teacher in her made a note to keep that tendency in check. "Dad said I could dye it," he said, watching as the nurse checked the I.V. drip and the complicated readouts on the LCD display. "I think it looks pretty good."

Never fear! It's still on the way - the only reason I haven't posted it here was because I don't have the draft of the latest chapter within arm's reach, as it were. (And yes, I'm being horribly slow with the updates lately. But it will come eventually!)

Between the SJA fic and The Middleman fic, I might have to implode with teh squee. And you know how dangerous teh squee is. Are you trying to kill me, woman?!?! *wink*

(Also: Liz/Barbara? This is for a ficathon, right? Ooo... That would be interesting, to say the least!)

Any chance of you picking up "The Wanderer Fantasy"? (In case you're going "Who's this crazy chick stalking my Livejournal, and how can I soundly beat her", I hopped over to ask about this fic a while ago, and periodically check to see if you've updated it.) Also, do you mind if I friend you? You write very good Holmes, as well as Who (and the Doctor-Fitz-Watson fic is making me very happy).

Oh, will definitely be continuing "The Wanderer Fantasy"! The only reason it wasn't on this list is because, of course, I don't have any of the latest chapter to show off just yet. ;)

(The delay at the moment? Totally the [livejournal.com profile] livelongnmarry charity auction's fault. I've committed to finishing a bunch of fics for that one, but once I'm done I will happily settle down to "The Wanderer Fantasy" and "The Deepsky Atlas" and all of the above poor, neglected fics. Hee!)

Also, do you mind if I friend you?

Ooh, not at all! I meant to ask you if I could friend you, actually, last time you commented, but was distracted by the awesome of the West Wing quotes in your profile. Ahem. But yes! Mind if I friend back? Sherlock Holmes! And the more people who know what I'm on about in the Holmes/Who crossover, the better. ;)

Are you trying to kill me, woman?!?!

*whistles innocently*

*yes*

*totally innocently*

Fic! Fic is fun! The Liz/Barbara thing is for a long-ago spin of the Random Pairing Generator and it kept getting Jossed by the new series, so I set it in a corner and sulked for a bit. *grumbles* It will someday see the light!

A part of me wants to think that you really are trying to kill me... But then you whistle so innocently, so how could such a crazy notion be true?

*wanders off, unaware of impending DOOM*

First I must say, the fact that 'Joss' is now a verb says something about how awesome and/or horrific that man is. Since I love everything he so much as breathes upon so much, I'll have to say awesome, but with no small amount of bitterness.

Secondly, oh, random pairing generators, what wonderful torment you cause... If you ever do manage to beat the new series into submission, I'm quite excited to see how such a pairing turns out!
