Here there be fangirling!

So I read "Camera Obscura" last night/in the wee hours of this morning.  And was reminded why I like some of these books so much - just the right sort of campy self-referential sense of humour I love!  Also: Victorian London!  Woot!  :D

In a random note, I just got through reading all of the Eighth Doctor comics (except one story that I can't find anywhere, alas) and really quite enjoyed them.  Izzy's a fun character, but I really wanted to see more of Fey.  Anyhoo, very enjoyable.  I need an icon of Charlie Brown!Doctor and Lucy!Rani, though.  Hm.

Your username.  Why?
Longish story: my initials are actually AKA, which is all sorts of fun, so I decided a while back I wanted to create an account somewhere that played on that.  And I didn't want it to be mistaken for a fannish thing, so I decided not to use the word "alias".  Then I remembered "eponymous", which is a fun word that sort of suited my purposes, and of course it was taken on LJ, so I thought "by any other name", and tacked on the "rose" bit.  Believe it or not, this was before I'd seen a single episode of Doctor Who. But only just.  Heehee.

Your title.  Why?
Because this was shortly after seeing a car explode.  Also, because I'm easily amused and "HI THERE I DON'T GET BORED ISN'T THAT WEIRD" didn't have a nice ring to it.

Your subtitle.  Why?
It's the advice I give every single person who's seriously stressed out over school.  Best way to succeed at university without ripping out all your hair: keep asking yourself "what ifs" and then plan for those contingencies.  *nodnod*  For instance, think "What if I forget to work on this assignment tonight?"  Make sure you've got a spare block the next day, or possibly even a class you can skip without terrible repercussions.  "What if I forget to hand it in?"  Get to know the TA's rounds, see if you can beg for an extension.  "What if I fail the assignment?" Make sure you've got plenty of time set aside for the next one!  "What if I fail the course?" Know your advisor and your course requirements and have a backup plan!  "What if I flunk out of my program?" Uh... have a plan B!  "What if an asteroid hits the university and wipes out all life for miles and miles around?" I... I don't know!  Stop asking all these questions!  I don't know anything!  *cowers in a corner*
