Delgado!

Howard!

So! Screencap one features Delgado about ten years before his role as the Master, and screencap two features Ronald Howard about seven years after his role as Sherlock Holmes. Would you have spotted them? I'm awful with faces, so I didn't recognize Delgado until he did more of the mannerisms with the raised eyebrows and sarcasm and such. And with Howard, it took the patented hands-in-pockets-of-dressing-gown thing.

Fandom collisions, hurrah!

No face hair? That's just weird.

I need to make a cap sometime of Ainley!Master in Anne of Avonlea.

Yes! Aha! (But that's more because I've hunted out a wee bit of Delgado's work and he's even younger in Quatermass 2 than that I Can Spot Actors.)

It was loading slowly, but I got as much as the forehead and was like "HI, ROGER!" But...his face looks way longer than I'd have thought it'd be without that beard. It might depend where I was focusing.

I wouldn't have had a clue, but... awwwwwwww, he's cute in a weirdly Ken-doll sort of way. ♥

(I'm better with people in motion - it's usually the combination of mannerisms, voice, and face that lets me recognize folks.)

Ainley!Master in Anne of Avonlea.

....Seriously? Now you've got me straining through the fog of years trying to remember that!

Oh my god, THANK YOU!!! Delgado looks SO YOUNG. Wow.

Oh that is so cool! His eyes give him away, but I bet if I'd been watching it I would have been wracking my brain to no avail. Thanks for sharing!

It is very, very strange seeing Roger Delgado with no facial hair. Not unpleasant, of course, but...strange. *stares*

Thank you for capping!

i would have recognised both but then i am Weird Like That. i can often recognise actors by the back of their heads. also i watched curse of the mummys tomb just because ronald howard was in it (it's from around the same time period as your cap). and also i would not recommend that film as it is sadly rather shite. but it does have ronald howard in it.

i need many, many, many things with roger delgado. rawr.

Wow, I'd never have recognized Roger.

And is it me, or does he look like he could be Jon Pertwee's brother?

OMG BEARDLESS DELGADO! Wow, he looks so much younger, doesn't he? Thanks for sharing this!

Wow. I see why you didn't recognise Beardless!Delgado at first. I'm sure I wouldn't have either; he looks so... different. It's the beard, I guess... (And he's younger. Doh.)

As for Ronald Howard, I must admit I've never seen him as Holmes before (or as anything else, for that matter). Must delve deeper into fandom. Hm. (But at least now I understand Courtney's icon, moo haa.)

It was the 1975 BBC one, not the Sullivan one. And honestly it was bad. Very bad, in my opinion. But Ainley's Mr Irving (Paul Irving's father) and wears a nice edwardian suit.

Awwww. That's too bad that it was bad (...can't sentence properly...), but I can go a while on the thought of Ainley!Master in an Edwardian suit, anyhow. :D

I bought it because I adore the Anne books and the first two of the Sullivan/Disney Anne movies. I made it through the first 2 hours (its a 6 hour mini series) before it was too much (half the cast can't act) I only picked it up again months later when I fell for Fivey and wanted to watch because of Ainley.

I'll make some caps and poke you when I've posted them, if you want.

That'd be awesome, thank you!!!

Amazing how a mustache changes the entire look of the face. But hey, if you block out everything below the chin, you can see THE EYEBROWS OF D00M!

Hahaha, Ronald Howard! He was a brilliantly quirky Holmes. I'd probably have scratched my head and been driven nuts trying to figure out where I'd seen him before -- though something tells me I'd have eventually recognized Delgado.

It's possible I'm being brainless or having a firewall issue, but.... I'm not seeing anything?

No, it's much more possible that I'm being braindead, and forgot to paste the link.
