Author's Note: Best exercise to cure unnecessary verbosity - cutting a 250-word ficlet down to a 100-word drabble. :D
Barbara sighed. "What is it this time? Giant elephants from Mars trampling London Bridge?"
"That's just the thing-" Ian shrugged. "The Doctor's left the TARDIS to recharge somewhere-or-other. Not much on the agenda for the next few days - I thought you'd like to have a wonderfully ordinary chat, just for a change."
"Oh," said Barbara. "Yes, that would be nice, wouldn't it?"
Ian cleared his throat. "Probably."
They were silent.
"Grandfather!" called Susan from the console room.
"Oh, this is absolutely impossible!" bellowed the Doctor.
Ian and Barbara exchanged glances. "Maybe later, then," he amended, and she laughed.
