Title: A Case of Identity
Author:
eponymous_rose
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Characters: Rose Tyler, Ten
Author's Note: Got the next chapter of Wanderer Fantasy beta-ready (!!), and then proceeded to accidentally spend most of the evening working on a puzzle instead of writing. Here, have a silly drabble!
“I don’t see what you’re getting upset about.”
The Doctor was trying to look impressive. Rose was unimpressed. “Did you hear what they called me?” He waved a hand dramatically. “I’m a Time Lord, after all! I’ve saved the world! Several worlds! It’s what I do!”
Rose put on her most serious and sincere face. “And a very good job you do of it, too.”
“A ‘busybody’!” The Doctor paused. “Yes, well, I’ll grant them that. And maybe the ‘meddler’ title, too. But a ‘Scotland Yard jack-in-office’?”
Rose composed herself with some effort. “C’mon, Holmes. Let’s go save the world.”

(I'm pretty sure this is based on a prompt you gave me ages and ages ago. *winks*)

Yup yup yup! I'm gonna try to finish my Inferno-verse fic today, but in between pulling my hair out over some of the plot points, I'll try to get a solid start on that one. Because... because steampunk!Doctor needs love. :D

Date: 2008-01-06 02:54 am (UTC)And I feel so marvelously nerdy for knowing it's from The Speckled Band. XDYou know, I could see the Sixth Doctor reacting the same way. Maybe there's more of him in the Tenth than I realized....no subject
Date: 2008-01-06 02:57 am (UTC)The people who find this fic funniest are generally the biggest Holmes fans. It's like a Holmes litmus test! :D

Y'know, I've always sort of thought that. But now, of course, I'm totally stuck on the similarities to the Fourth - particularly the way both of them will say something, then go "Well," and completely contradict themselves. Now that I've noticed it once, it just won't go away!
And speaking of Four - it's your icon's fault that I'm rewatching that serial now. :D I always forget how amazing all the supporting characters are, and it's really nicely paced out for a six-episode serial. Doesn't seem to drag at all!
