Drabbles. Doctor Who and Sherlock Holmes. All That Hopping and Chasm.

Two more requests from my Random Acts of Drabble post (and, yup, you can still request 'em!)!

The first is from [livejournal.com profile] rosa_acicularis, who very kindly requested a Doctor Who fic with "Frogs. That's the whole prompt. Frogs.". :D

Characters: Nine, Rose

They run hand-in-hand.

“And if you hadn’t made that quip about frogs in your throat-“

“Rose, we’ve bigger things to worry about than any undoubtedly clever pleasantries I may or may not have-“

“And the frog legs! Why’d you have to mention the frog legs?”

He shoots her a look over his shoulder. “They’re a delicacy!”

They skid to a halt in front of a massive pond, complete with oversized lily pads. Somewhere in the distance, the earth shakes and loud croaks fill the air.

“I’ve a suggestion,” Rose offers.

“What?”

“We hop for our lives.”

And so they do.

The second is from [livejournal.com profile] tigerkat24, who requested a Sherlock Holmes/Doctor Who crossover with the prompt "You've gotta be kidding." I cheated a bit, but I imagine most serious Holmesians will be quoting the prompt immediately after reading. :D

Title: Chasm
Author: [livejournal.com profile] eponymous_rose
Rating: G
Characters: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson
Word Count: 100

“Tell me how you came alive out of that dreadful chasm.”

Memory is a strange and wonderful thing; the passing of time blends and distorts even the most firmly rooted recollections. When we are faced with a visage, no matter how much change the years have wrought, we cling by our fingernails to the old, to the familiar.

It is easy enough to affect the mannerisms and idiosyncracies, to stand just so and hope the light of memory obscures the whiter skin, the more pronounced cheekbones, the different hairline.

Sherlock Holmes smiles at his friend and doesn’t speak of regeneration.
