Drabbles. Sherlock Holmes. Embellishments and Best Kept Hidden.

In reply to my Random Acts of Drabble post (offer still stands, if anyone's interested!), [livejournal.com profile] megoobie requested a Sherlock Holmes fic with the prompt "Violet".

Title: Embellishments
Author: [livejournal.com profile] eponymous_rose
Rating: G
Characters: Violet _____, Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Watson
Word Count: 100

Her name is Violet.

I stand to the side, observing my friend as he touches, speaks, observes, reduces this woman to a seething colony of wordless revelations. A part of me demands to know how he can expound on the beauty of the flowers, on the goodness of all the small and wonderful things that are unnecessary to our base existence, and yet be so ignorant of matters of the heart.

He looks up, meeting my gaze with a knowing smile; his eyes are cold, but I have known colder.

“A rose,” he says, and smiles, “by any other name.”

And [livejournal.com profile] scarletsherlock requested a Sherlock Holmes fic wherein "Mrs. Hudson catches Holmes in a compromising position". :D

Title: Best Kept Hidden
Author: [livejournal.com profile] eponymous_rose
Rating: G
Characters: Mrs. Hudson, Sherlock Holmes
Word Count: 100

“This, my dear lady, is not as it appears.”

“I suppose it mustn’t be! That is, far be it for me-“

“Mrs. Hudson, I assure you that I was merely clearing this magazine from the good doctor’s desk!”

“There really is no shame in it. Our Dr. Watson has developed quite an audience.”

“Besides, his writing is so terribly romanticised. I would never sully my-“

“-great and massive brain with such twaddle?”

“Well, yes.”

“Shall I tell Doctor Watson to provide you with further copies of the Strand magazine in the future?”

A pause.

“If you must.”

“Very good, sir.”

OMG! BRAVO! These are FABULOUS! Looks like I'm going to need to give you more prompts. Are you a 'Phantom' person? If so... and if you wish, of course...

1. The Phantom of the Opera
2. Prompt: "Violin"

Aw, thank you! :D

Alas, I'm not a Phantom person. Yet. It's on my to-do list, I promise!

Yay! Perfect...I figured you would come up with something like that (though a teensy part of me was wondering if you'd shock me with a scary 'broom closet' moment ala Erasing Sherlock LOL). I absolutely love the first one, too.

Thank you! :D

Heehee - I know it loses points for originality, but I was sleepy and this seemed easier than squeezing the elaborate charade I'd originally envisioned into a hundred words.
