Dear Yuletide Writer
Eee, this time already! I am a long-time lurker/reader, first-time participant in Yuletide, so this is very much on the exciting side for me. :D
First off, writer? You are a billion shades of awesome for writing in any of these fandoms, and I am already way too excited at the prospect of seeing any variation on any of these themes. I adore gen-fic, but I am also more than willing to be sold on a variety of canonical, semi-canonical, and just plain weird and wacky pairings. I love action/adventure, but quiet, introspective pieces can really blow me away. Absolutely insane, crackfic AUs? A good time! In short: I will love to death anything you write for me. :D
Here is a quick rundown of my thoughts re: each fandom. Basically, it's just a long-winded way of assuring you that anything you write will be well-received. Seriously. Anything.
Request One: Arthur Conan Doyle - Sherlock Holmes series
I'm definitely familiar with canon (and have been known to quarrel about chronology), and I love fanfic that takes some awesome interpretation of established canon and wedges something totally shiny and wonderful right in there. I also love Holmesfic that abandons canon altogether. Um. So, basically, anything goes! My favourite things about the stories are the mysteries and deductions from thin air, of course, but Holmes and Watson's relationship (interpreted whichever way) is an unending source of fascination. I also have a very soft spot for fic featuring Mrs. Hudson in some way, shape, or form (though I suppose that doesn't match very well with the request I made, ahem).
Request Two: The Avengers (tv) - Emma Peel, John Steed
I believe there is a general consensus about this fandom - needs moar fic. I really should have opened this one up to all characters, so I don't mind if you bring in anyone else, but I would love to see a quality action-type story focusing on these two (again, gen and non-gen both work fine by me). Banter! I cannot express how much I love the banter. After watching this show pretty much endlessly as a kid, I was terribly disappointed to find my way to a quiet fandom and a comparatively empty store of fic. Anything here would fill me with inutterable glee.
Request Three: The Middleman (tv)
I adore this show. Adore it with a capital 'a', and probably also the rest of the letters capitalized for added emphasis. I love all the characters, and the weird and wacky situations - I would be very pleased with a fic full of geeky references and tongue-in-cheek humour. Actually, I would probably wind up running around in circles, flailing in an overexcited sort of way. Gen is lovely, as are any and all pairings. Have fun with this one!
Request Four: Man from U.N.C.L.E.
The thing I love most about this fandom is the generally high caliber of the fic already written - but, of course, there's just never enough! If you're very familiar with this fandom, I'd love for you to take a new approach to one of the more clichéd storylines, which is what my request was all about. As with any of the other fandoms, my very favourite thing is banter - I tend to lean more towards lighthearted fare in this fandom (I know, I know), but more dramatic, angsty fic can also be a thing of awesome. I'd love to see some of the bit players fleshed out, actually, for bonus marks.
In short? If you've had an idea floating around your head for any of these fandoms, don't mind my requests - write it anyway! I would love to see anything new.
