The recent stuff is almost totally locked, except for fic, of course! I don't often cross-post, so this is the easiest way to find it.

Comment to be added - I'm always looking for new friends! :D

Hi! Found your journal via the new TARDIS Express LJ. And your Teaspoon fic, which I read with great enjoyment. I've friended you - i really hope that's okay.

I was wondering - when you say you are a "weather nerd", do you by any remote chance mean that your job actually involves something to do with weather? I mean as opposed to just being interested in what the weather is tomorrow or something. I do actually have a real reason for asking, honest!! :-D

Oh, definitely friending back! :D Glad to meet you!

Oh, yes indeed! I've just finished the third year of a degree in atmospheric science (this university's equivalent of a meteorology degree), and I'm currently working an internship with Environment Canada doing summer severe weather forecasting. Eventually hoping to wind up with a PhD in something to do with hail nomographs and/or tornado forecasting.

Cool! The reason I asked was twofold, actually: first, because my brother is a meteorologist with NCAR (in Boulder) and second, because I am a criminologist studying the relationship between weather and crime! I'm in England at the moment and have just given a talk on the subject at a conference. BTW, what uni are you at? Steve (my brother) did his post-doc at McGill - you there by any chance?

Also, btw, having looked at your profile, we totally like the same fandoms. Not just DW, I mean - I'm a HUGE Sherlock Holmes fan, and also quite like UNCLE and Sapphire and Steel (have you listened to any of the Big Finish S&S audios? They are SO cool.)

Ooh, NCAR! I love that place - visited Boulder once on a family holiday and had to make sure we stopped there. It was scenic enough that my family didn't much mind the detour. ;)

I am a criminologist studying the relationship between weather and crime!

That is absolutely amazing! Sounds really fascinating - I've heard of parallels between rising crime (and insanity) rates to do with the Chinook winds off the Rockies, but apart from that I haven't heard much on the topic at all. Sounds brilliant!

I'm currently at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, but I'm planning on applying to McGill for grad school. Did he enjoy his studies there? I've only ever heard great things.

Oh! Oh, that's excellent! I have listened to the S&S audios, and am a huge fan (I do want to write a fanfic involving Gold at some point, yes). I've been dabbling a bit in UNCLE fiction, but haven't posted all that much due to my being easily intimidated by the wealth of lovely fic out there. And Sherlock Holmes! Oh, I love Sherlock Holmes - have you listened to the audios Bert Coules did for BBC7? Merrison and Williams are my Holmes and Watson, no question.

Hurrah for fandoms in common! It's always fun when people know what I'm on about. ;)
